The moisturizing glycerin

If you look at the ingredients of a cosmetic product, you will often find the term “glycerin”. But what is glycerin and how does it work in cosmetics?

What is glycerin?

Chemically, glycerin is a sugar alcohol. It is a component of all natural fats and oils and is generally known for its moisturising, caring properties.
Like urea, glycerin belongs to the group of natural moisturising factors. Glycerine also has a very good water-binding capacity and is particularly well tolerated by the skin.

How does glycerine work?

Glycerine gives the product a supple feel. It moisturises the skin and, when properly concentrated, protects it from drying out.
Glycerin makes the skin feel smooth and supple.
